FEBRUARY 4, 2021 - Paramount+ has released a preview of their big Super Bowl ad, set to air in this Sundays #BigGame. And they’re not pulling any punches: sitting atop of Paramount Mountain, awaiting the intrepid climbers who have starred in their series of viral ads, is none other than Star Trek’s current Captain of Captains, Sir Patrick Stewart.

To celebrate the launch of Paramount+ on March 4th, ViacomCBS started airing a series of ads last week, showing a rag-tag team (made up of the stars of CBS All Access’s flagship shows), embarking on a journey to climb Paramount Mountain. There was humor, there was drama, there was Star Trek: Strange New Worlds and Star Trek: Discovery, and there was even a little Beavis and Butthead. For what that’s worth.

The series of ads is set to culminate during this Sunday’s Superbowl LV, which airs on CBS All Access, CBS, and CBS Sports. Kickoff is at 6:30pm ET. And from the first-look video, it’s a star-studded party.

As the team of climbers approaches the summit of Paramount Mountain, they see Stewart in a tuxedo sitting at a bar made of snow, drinking a martini. He informs them that their journey was a metaphor, and that they all live there now. “Isn’t it glorious?” he says.

The rest of the spot features rock music, Stewart dancing, and more cameos than you can shake an ice pick at. Well worth a watch, if only for hearing Stewart call someone a “silly goose”.

You can watch the video (and the series leading up to it) on Paramount+’s YouTube page now, or tune into the Superbowl this Sunday on CBS All Access.
